SIX NEW ATTRACTIONS | SCHLITTERBAHN KANSAS CITY 2011

Schlitterbahn's $5 Million Expansion Will Include Six New Attractions for 2011 (or 2012)

KANSAS CITY, KS

Schlitterbahn Kansas City Waterpark plans to add six new attractions as part of a multimillion-dollar expansion planned for 2011 (or 2012).

The water park had announced plans to more than double its size with six new attractions — including a mile-long rapids river tube chute, three new slides and a simulated surf ride and a ride-up Aqua Veyer to eliminate wait times and climbing up stairs.

The company said the expansion was made possible by the traffic the water park received during the 2010 season — its first full season. The park drew visitors from all 50 states, the District of Columbia, the Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, Canada and Mexico.

"Attendance during our first full season exceeded our expectations," Keith Fontenot, general manager for Schlitterbahn Kansas City Waterpark, said in a release. "Our unique river tubing experience was well received by our guests. They asked for more, and we are excited to introduce more thrilling attractions and amenities for the 2011 season."

Schlitterbahn Waterparks is widely recognized as the leader of waterpark innovation and as the first family of American waterparks. In addition to the Kansas City park, Schlitterbahn currently operates three Texas waterparks. Family-owned and operated, Schlitterbahn Waterparks has been a leader in family water entertainment since 1979.
