NOW OPEN - Fire in the Hole (SDC)

Fire in the Hole is now in "technical rehearsals" and is accepting riders periodically now through its Grand Opening on April 30th

This is the main entrance for the new attraction

Upon entering you will stay left if you are using stand-by or right if you have Trailblazer or are using an ADA pass

Most of the queue is located outdoors and features several switchbacks

There are some fans located in the queue, but we are concerned that this area will get quite warm during the warmer summer months

One of the displays you pass while queuing outdoors

The new storyline centers around these three Baldknobbers

Once you have navigated the outdoor queue area you enter the ride building again through this doorway

The main load area is located on the "Delivery Bay"

The main load area features some additional queue area before you get to the actual load area

Some advertising posters for the Pumper Factory are located on the wall

Period accurate flag hanging on the wall

Shipment tracking board (reminds us a lot of the one located in Mystic River Falls queue)

Looks like the Big Reveal has been delayed

Here's a look at indoor queue section

A look at the trains and some of the theming on the load dock

A look at the cubby storage area and that fence leads to the exit

There is a grouper who will split you into the 6 lanes

You depart to your left and then go up the stairs to exit

Once you come down the stairs on the side you are greeted by the original mural from the old Fire in the Hole that is now behind a protective glass.

Back in the Fire in the Hole Plaza you can find a small souvenir stand and an onride photo stand

Before we leave, let's look at some of the façade doorways

Our thoughts?
This is a worthy upgraded and modern replacement for the original. The new ride stays true to the original while making huge advancements in storytelling and craftsmanship.  No one will go away disappointed after riding this ride.  We cannot wait to visit again to get in more laps on this ride

Spring Break (SDC)

Welcome to OPENING WEEKEND at Silver Dollar City

Casey and the Atta Boys entertaining guests at the Gazebo Stage

The USAF Airlifter Brass Band from Scott AFB performed in the Riverfront Playhouse

The Perondi's Stunt Dog Experience was performing in the Opera House

and all of your favorite rides were back open for a new season

So nice to be able to get rides in on all of our favorites once again

The new season is now in full bloom and we cannot wait for another great year of fun

City Update (SDC)

Lots of new updates to cover today.  First, the parking lots all got new names and colors

At the main campus there are now 6 named lots.  Obviously the satellite lots will also have names

Going down Valley Road, we can admire the new siding on Brown Candy Factory

The attendant at the toll bridge received a new uniform for this season

Entering the newly named Fire District, we come upon Flanders Dry Goods across from Boatworks Theater.

Lots of Fire in the Hole and Flanders themed attire

You can also purchase your own set of Red's pants

Sadie's Pretzels is not quite ready to open yet

The details on the building look great

Looking through to new covered seating area

This will be the exit from the seating area

It really changes the look of this area for the better

Here you can see the seating area just behind the Balloon ride

The sign on the pumper wagon has been changed to the new name for the area

Here is the entrance to the newly moved swing ride.  It is right next to the Dizzy Dogs

It honestly looks like it has always been here

Here is what the area looks like from where the swings used to be

Separating the older area from the new First in the Hole plaza is a new train crossing

This new crossing provides great visuals of the Frisco Steam Train as it passes by

Moving over to River Town, we noticed that the tree house elevated platform at River Blast has been removed.

Honestly it looks rather strange now without it

Over on Hill Street, the new Heartland Home Furnishings store has opened

The new store has a giant open floor plan show floor

Attached, but not accessible to guests from insides is the demonstration room

Lots of tools area on display here

No one was working today though

Checking in on the site of the old Fire in the Hole, we are met with a large wall

The building is still standing for now

The exit from the ride is sealed up

Anyone else curious what is going to happen herein the future?

Riding the train you can see that the area appears pretty unchanged so far

I imagine there will soon be a wall on this side too

Doors all locked up for good at the original Fire in the Hole
