Rivertown Smokehouse (SDC)

Welcome to the new Rivertown Smokehouse

There was a long line during the lunch time rush

The light fixtures in the main entry way

You can see right into the preparation area when you walk in

  

The large smokers for the restaurant there in the back

They grill the meat right in front of you

They also have a carving station there on the left

Here is where you order is prepared.  You can see the pricing on the boards overhead 

There are also desserts for purchase if you have a sweet tooth

Rounding the corner to the registers you see the restaurants's logo on the wall

You pay for your meal and then proceed to the drink station.  They have attendants preparing drinks right now, but I imagine in the future this will be self-served

This is a 2-meat meal.  I got brisket and pulled pork.  It comes with two sides.  I got baked beans and mac-and-cheese.  You also get a roll with the plate.  You have the option of 2 types of BBQ sauce (sweet or original) and they give you pickle slices.  It was all very tasty

Silver Dollar City recently did a live video from their new Rivertown area and we are here with stills from the video to show you the improvements to the area.  Behind our host is the new Rivertown Smokehouse

Looking down the pathway of Rivertown.  The Dockside Theatre is directly behind the host.  The Smokehouse is on the left, across the street is the new Cinnamon Bread store and way down the road is the Playhouse Theatre

The main point of the video was to take a closer look at the Smokehouse.  This is the facade of the entrance to this new 4 million dollar restaurant

Time to go inside

Looking up in the main entry you see this unique light fixture

Time to meet the head chef.  He will take us through the details of the Smokehouse

The first thing you'll see is the SDC culinary team pulling pork, carving brisket and more.  Behind the head chef is the overflow serving line, which will be used during peak season

Those black boxes are the brand new smokers that the kitchen will use

There will be two serving sides. The one to the right will be the main side that is used

Here's where you will choose your main entree.  Brisket, Ribs, Half Rotisserie Chicken, Turkey, and more.

Time to check out the seating area, which happens to wrap around the new Mystic River Falls

It will be a lot of fun dining here watching the boats go by

Rivertown Smokehouse will be available on Opening Day.  

I know we can hardly wait to try it out

Mystic River Falls (SDC)

Time for the last Mystic River Falls update of the year.  One thing you'll notice is that there are a lot of trees in this former barren plot of land.  Also that new covered seating area for the Smokehouse is quite large

This is definitely going to be a scenic river ride

Here's a look at the tower from the Giant Barn Swing queue line

That long concrete channel is at the start of the ride.  The tower is at the end

  

Apparently the elevator is supposed to be installed sometime in the next few weeks if weather cooperates

  

This is basically the top of the river before you head into the winding area of the ride

Here you can see the backside of the Smokehouse.

Lots of natural looking landscaping has been added to the ride

And like I mentioned before, trees.

It looks like the Smokehouse is going with a corrugated tin siding look.  I guess this area will have a Bayou theme then?  So does that mean we can get Cajun Connection back across the midway path?

Far center you can see the smaller covered seating area for Smokehouse.  On the right is the load station for Mystic River and the final drop is dead center

Entrance queue is on the left of the station, exit on the right.  Looks like it is almost time to build the pathway over the ride channel back into the station
