Christmas in Midtown Testing (SDC)

Want a sneak peek of the new Christmas in Midtown lights?  Thanks to the park for providing the photos for this update.

I don't know about you, but I cannot wait to see this in person.  An Old Time Christmas officially opens to the public this Saturday, November 4th.

Time Traveler Construction (SDC)

Something special is on its way to the States.

Any guess what could be in this crate?

Winterfest Installation (WOF)

Hard to believe that Winterfest is right around the corner.

Large Christmas lights now call the front entrance gate area home.

Most of the large restaurants have decorations already up inside.
This is Chickie's and Pete's

SteelHawk is down for the season as it has been turned into a large tree of lights.

Mistletoe has already opened in the Front Street shops.

This will be your main headquarters for Winterfest souvenirs.

There are plenty of different Christmas themed Worlds of Fun shirts to choose from.  They also have a really cool ornament and snowglobes.

There are lots of Christmas decorations you can buy as well.

Seriously - there are a lot of things you can buy here.

Some decorations already up in Planet Snoopy.  There were in the trees above the Red Barron kiddie ride.

Most of the lighted decorations are located in Europa.

Most of the trees features some sort of lighted decoration.  These have icicle dripping light strands hanging from most of the branches.

Some lighted displays going in over near Le Taxi Tour.

The most visible decoration is this large tree near Moulin Rouge.
Winterfest opens to the public on November 24th.

Zulu is back! (WOF)

It seems like it took forever to reopen, but ZULU is back.

It seemed to be running very well today.  So nice to have it back.

Some of the lights need replaced at night, but I will overlook that for now as it is just so nice to have another flat ride back at the park -- and especially in this area.

FINNISHED Fling (WOF)

Well, all good things must come to an end... I guess.

This marks the final weekend of operation for the Finnish Fling.

Finnish Fling is one of the "originals" at the park.

This Chance Rotor is actually one of only a few remaining in operation.

It's a pretty simple ride, the drum spins riders around and pins them to the wall.

Then the floor is lowered and you slowly slide down the wall or if you are lucky, you are pinned to the wall until the drum slows back down.

The Finnish Fling will be removed this off season to make way for Nordic Chaser, the new for 2018 ride that will be added next season.

I was able to pay my last respects to the ride on Saturday.  While it was no longer a "must ride" for me, I have fond memories of the ride from my childhood.

The park is currently selling shirts commemorating the ride in Plaza Gifts.

The Finnish Fling giving its final rides of the evening on Saturday.

Today was the official last day of operation.  Thanks to Shelly Hilger we are able to see the special banner the park put on the ride for today.  The final 3 rides were auctioned off for charity.

The Great Pumpkin Fest (WOF)

Welcome to Planet Snoopy - home of the "scare-free" celebration known as The Great Pumpkin Fest.

Just in case you didn't know what the festival is called, there are lots of banners to remind you.

I really liked the photo op in the center of the land.  Very cool looking doghouse.

I really liked this pumpkin arch.  I think they could have a few more of them in the area.

They had a "Pick-a-Pumpkin" patch for the younger guests.

There was also a pretty good hay bale maze on the former Scrambler ride pad.

They had Halloween flags flying around the land.

The "Trick-or-Treat" houses are a lot more elaborate this year.

Inside Peanuts Playhouse they have dance parties and crafts.
Pretty cool event for the younger guests.
