Star-Spangled Summer (SDC)

Welcome to Star-Spangled Summer at Silver Dollar City

A special Fun Junction toy store has been set up in the Frisco Barn

Be sure to pick up all of your favorite toys when you visit.

In the Red Gold Heritage Hall, Kadan and Brooklyn Rockett are performing their Kids Magic show.  They don't allow photos during the show, so this is all you're going to get.  They have a meet-and-greet photo opportunity after the show.

As for the show, it really lacks any pacing - and the kids have yet to learn how to work with a "dead audience". While their illusions are decent, they are retired old acts from more famous magicians.

Sons of the Silver Dollar is performing their Summer Song Lists now (each of the shows during the day features different songs).  They were performing at Boat Works today, but they will occasionally perform at the Gazebo instead this summer.

Dance Explosion is performing at the Dockside Theater

This show features a dance troupe that does some clogging and other modern dance styles.  If the show feels repetitive after a couple of songs, it's not just your imagination.

The surprise jewel of the festival was the Greg Bennick show in the Riverfront Playhouse.  The guy really knew how to work the audience and his juggling and jokes were very entertaining.

It also helped that he picked a great assistant from the audience who stole the show a few times.

Star-Spangled Summer runs through July 21st.

Star-Spangled Summer (SDC)

Welcome back to Silver Dollar City

The summer heat and humidity are in full force, which means it is time for Star-Spangled Summer at Silver Dollar City.

The square has numerous activity stations including this Ring Toss.

Some family games over by Reunion Hall.

There are even more tents and activities over by the Taffy Shop.

The decorations look really nice this year.

Very festive colors can be found all over the square.

Banners can be found elsewhere around the park as well, including near the new Food Court by Time Traveler.

Creation Station has been set up in the Frisco Barn

Creation Station appears to be a glorified toy store set up for the festival.

There are literally hundreds of different things you can purchase.

Need a hat?  They have plenty to choose from.

This variation on Lego bricks was interesting.

The SDC logo made from the bricks was pretty neat.

At the Gazebo Stage, The Dalton Gang is performing during the festival.  They are a group of young musicians (probably teens to early twenties) that perform Bluegrass music.

In the Red Gold Heritage Hall, The Perondi's Stunt Dog Experience is back.

It is basically the same show as last year, but in a different venue.

The younger kids seemed to really enjoy the show.

In the Riverfront Playhouse, the world-famous A Capella group Rockapella is performing.

You probably best know them as the ones that sings the Folgers Coffee jingle.  The show was all right, but you could tell that the audience was having a hard time connecting to them.

In Boatworks, the Championship Cloggers from Atlanta, GA are back.

This is a very entertaining and energetic bunch of kids.

They demonstrate lots of different types of dances.

Star-Spangled Summer runs daily through July 22nd.

Star-Spangled Summer (SDC)

Welcome back to Silver Dollar City.  It's Star-Spangled Summer Fest.  We started our day by watching the first show of the day for the Sons of the Silver Dollar - a very talented vocal trio.

There is a huge shop set up in the Frisco Barn for the festival.

Lots of different crafty things that you can purchase and make.

The Harlem Globetrotters Experience is back in the Red Gold Heritage Hall again this year.  The show opens up with guest contests versus Globie, their mascot.

Next four members of the Globetrotters come out and perform some trick shots and dribbling.

Their fun is soon interrupted when Cager from the Washington Generals appears.

The fun continues after Cager leaves with some blatant goal tending.

They also help some young fans spin balls on their fingers.

We thought the show was a lot better this year.

The Champion Cloggers are back again this year.  They are performing at the Boatworks Theatre.

There are a lot of new cast members this year at the Saloon - including a new pianiat and drummer.

They have added a new segment that features a song from the musical HAMILTON.

Also there is a new Charlie and the old Charlie is now Mean Murphy.  I thought the cast did a great job, the show is very entertaining.

In the Opera House, Chris Perondi is performing his Stunt Dog Show.

He has additional trainers that help him.

This is his high flying dog.

They also had a distance jumping dog that jumped over 3 kids and their mascot.

Time for a couple of dogs that jump rope.

What's a dog show without a triathlon.  The 2 dogs flew through this course.

It was a great show.
Star-Spangled Summer runs through July 16th.
