Falcon's Flight - Now Open (WOF)

Falcon's Flight officially opened to the public on Friday May 12th.

Since this was the first Saturday it was open, it was drawing a decent sized line.

While each cart is capable of seating two people in tandem seating, it is much more comfortable to just seat one person per cart.

With 28 pods, the line actually moves pretty quickly.

In fact I was quite surprised on how quick the load/unload process was.

The ride starts with the main carriage rising several feet in the air before any rotation begins.

Then the ride kicks into overdrive and lots of spinning occurs.

The ride could be best described as a scrambler in the air.

I found the ride to be a lot of fun and not overly intense.  I think it is a great addition to the park and a much needed "breath of fresh air" to the Europa section of the park.

Falcon's Flight at Worlds of Fun is still in the testing phase.

You'll notice that some of the protective coverings are still stationed by the fence.

There was a lot of activity at the substation for the ride.

They have sandbags loaded in each of the pods.

Here is another arm - there are sandbags in these pods as well.

I have to admit - this ride really helped make the rest of Europa look better.

The plan is to have the ride open to the public for next weekend.

They did several cycles of the ride during the course of the day.  They started with stationary lifts up and down of the ride platform and then progressed to full operation cycles.  They are very close to having this ready to open.

The new Falcon's Flight will not be ready for Opening Night and Weekend.

Notice how it really towers over the depot and is quite visible outside of Europa.

The ride takes the place of the former Le Carousel and really changes the look of Europa.

They still have some parts to assemble for the ride.

Though they were cycling the main assembly of the ride tonight.  It was not lifting and the 4 arms were not spinning, but the main section was turning.

There are a lot of LED lights on this ride, so I imagine it will be quite bright at night.

The ride will not be open this weekend, but they are optimistic about next weekend.

Falcon's Flight's sign has been installed.  You can also see the canopies for the queue line, which appear to the be a yellow and white pattern.

Falcon's Flight towers over the Europa section of the park.

The carts are now all hung on the ride.

It appears that each of the four arms have a different color scheme.

Here you can see the new LED lighting package that they have installed.  This should really brighten up the Europa section at night.

Falcon's Flight is extremely visible in the park now.  This is from over by Vittle Griddle.

This is where the entrance to the ride will be located.  Also you can see some of the new concrete that has been poured in the area to replace the former asphalt.

Very happy to see that they are installing shade structures from the start for the ride.

The ride is getting closer to being ready to test.

The carts should be installed by the end of the week.  You'll notice that the supports on each of the four arms have been installed already.

Falcon's Flight has really changed the look of Europa for the better.
