Worlds of Fun

Welcome to a new season of thrills at Worlds of Fun.
Let's start the day with MAMBA.

Time for the annual ride on Boomerang... and we're done for the year.

They have a new vintage Worlds of Fun shop.

They have a model of Zambezi Zinger in the store.

Look at all the cars they have running at Autobahn - it's been a long time since that happened.

New sign for Flying Dutchman.

Detonator was running great today.

Headed up into Planet Snoopy next.  Snoopy Bounce was actually open.

Another shock - ThunderHawk was running.

Timber Wolf is still being worked on.

All right I admit it - I love SteelHawk

Patriot now has stars on all of the wheel covers.

It is probably getting close to time to give the track a repaint.

Decent dispatches on opening weekend?  That's insane.

It is still crazy to me how open Viking Voyager is now with so many trees removed.

Sea Dragon is also very visible now.

Prowler is still an amazing rollercoaster.

The new birthing scene in Dinosaurs Alive is a great addition.

Look.  Baby dinosaurs.

The park appears to be off to a good start for the season.

World Fest (SDC)

Welcome to World Fest at Silver Dollar City.
Ecuador Manta is performing on the Gazebo Stage.

Heading back towards the Red Gold Heritage Hall.

They had some preshow entertainment in the Red Gold Courtyard.

Performing in the Red Gold Heritage Hall this year is ZUMA ZUMA.

The show has a wide variety of acts including juggling.

Step show dancing.

Rug spinning artists.

Pole climbing.

More "native" dancing.

It's an entertaining show - but there's not much on the cultural side.

Tastes of the World Food Court is back in the Frisco Barn.

At Boatworks Theatre - Stix on Steel is back.

This group from Trinidad and Tabago is a crowd favorite.

In the Opera House, Ireland: the Show is performing.  It is opened by Robin Slater and Dearbhail Finnegan - a very talented couple.  Honestly, they're the reason to even come to the show.

The rest of the show is extremely repetitive.

Basically the show consists of two main dancers who come out and do the exact same step work over and over again but to a different (?) song.

The cast is talented, but this 40 minute show could have be condensed to a 5 minute show and you wouldn't have missed out on anything.

In Riverfront Playhouse ISLAND FIRE is performing.

The show this year features the guys a lot more than in the past.

There was also a lot more fire.

I thought the masks were fun.

Ukulele time.

Time to set the stage on fire.

This trio of brothers are very talented.

A great show.

World Fest is always one of my favorite festivals of the year.
