New Year's Eve (WOF)

Welcome to New Year's Eve at Winterfest at Worlds of Fun.

The park put up a few additional decorations around International Plaza for the event.

Even Snoopy's Dog House was ready for the party.

Moulin Rouge was home to the kid-friendly Tinker's New Year's Eve Sing-a-Long

The show was sort of a karaoke dance party for the kids with the characters from the Tinker's Toy Shop show.

It seemed to be a hit with the younger audience.

The park had some specialty items for sale to help bring in the New Year.

The dance parties started at 9pm around the park.  In Tinsel Town (Americana Star Fountain Plaza) the Tennanbaum's Retro New Year's Eve Party was being held.

Every time I ventured through the area, this particular party was very lightly populated.  I think the cold and the openness of the area (it was pretty windy) probably made people move on to different locations.

At 9:45pm in Europa, Tinker's Little Elf New Year's Countdown Party took place.

They helped the younger audience members ring in the New Year 2 hours early so they could go on home and get to bed at a decent time.

So, Happy 10 o'clock everyone!

It actually seemed to be pretty popular with the parents as they had their kids convinced it was New Years now and they could leave.

In the Tivoli Music Hall, 2Proud2Beg, a local Motown cover band performed to a pretty large crowd.

It was honestly nice to be able to get out of the cold and listen to a pretty talented group.

At 11:30pm, it was time to move outside to Snoopy's Rockin' New Year's Eve Countdown Party at the International Plaza Stage.  A local KC DJ spun tunes as the characters kept the crowd entertained.

Snoopy was all dressed up in his tuxedo for the occasion.

The park offered Champagne Toasts for purchase for the special occasion.

Towards the end of the party, all of the characters came on stage to dance together one last time.

Before we knew it, it was time for the count down to start.

Almost there!

Holiday in the Park - Shows (SFSTL)

SHOWS

This portion of our Holiday in the Park coverage will focus on the shows that available during the event.

The first one is the Tinseltones which is performing in the Empire Theatre.

The show features three female singers who perform 50s style Christmas classics.

Arrive early as the show seems to always have near capacity crowds.

 On the Palace Theatre Porch is the The Magic of Christmas Light Show.

The light show features 5 trees made out of LED lights.

The trees "dance" to numerous Christmas tunes.

In addition, the lights on the trees in the Palace Courtyard Park also dance to the music.

At the Tinsel Town Stage (near Batman) the Holiday Harmonies quartet performs Christmas standards.

This is an A Capella group that sings occasionally in 4 part harmony.

The main show, once again this season, is the Majesty of Christmas, which is performed in the Palace Theatre.

This musical retelling of the Birth of Jesus Christ features a large cast and live animals.

Lots of animals, in fact.

There is also a flying angel.

During the We 3 Kings portion of the show, a camel appears.

The Majesty of Christmas also experiences near capacity crowds at each performance.  Arriving early is highly recommended.  Holiday in the Park runs on select evenings through New Years Eve.
