Dragon Slayer (Adventureland)

A lot of progress is being made on the footer foundation

Basically this design uses a big slab of concrete that the footers are attached to

You can see how deep the pit will be.  There will be additional anchors that go even deeper

It looks like all of the parts are here now, except the trains

The pile of track

An earthmover was busy pushing stuff around

The recent derecho took out the two banners that were hanging on the old Dragon loops

World Update (WOF)

Welcome back to Worlds of Fun.  Since our last visit, the park made the extremely unpopular decision to cut the season short.  Their last operational day will be Labor Day

With that being said, the summer is winding down quickly for KC's favorite amusement park.  Thankfully the grounds crew is not phoning in the season as the park looks amazing

This is probably my favorite version of the floral clock yet

Seriously the grounds crew does an amazing job at this park.  Easily the prettiest park in the chain

Since Oceans of Fun was not allowed to open this summer, thanks to some crazy overreach by the local government, the park "moved" Monsoon back over to Worlds of Fun for the summer

Fury of the Nile is now open for the season and with it, the walkway between Coasters Drive-In and the Floral Clock

Viking Voyager is also open

Which means that only 4 main rides did not open in the park (Cyclone Sam's, Steel Hawk, Falcon's Flight and... )

... Boomerang.

This one is a puzzle to me.  The train isn't even in the station.  I am not really sure why they decided that it would not open this season

Like we mentioned earlier, the park's last operational day is September 7th (Labor Day).  After that, the park will be closed until next spring.  That means NO Haunt and NO Winterfest this year.  Yeah, we think that's ridiculous too.  Welcome to 2020.

Hurricane Harbor St. Louis

Finally made it to Hurricane Harbor St. Louis

So most of the park is open, but it the capacity is really kept in check

Only one party loaded per raft on Big Kahuna

A lot fewer tubes allowed on the lazy river at one time

They social distance you on Wahoo Racers unless you're all in the same party

Tornado was running pretty normal

So was Typhoon Twister

Hook's Lagoon is fenced off with a dedicated entrance now.  It has a strictly enforced capacity

The wave pool is also fenced off with a dedicated entrance.  They kick everyone out at timed intervals

Bonsai Pipeline is pretty much the same as usual.

Catwoman Whip (SFSTL)

Not much has changed at the Catwoman site since our last update.

There are some new tubes staged but I am not sure if they are for the Catwoman project or not (if it is even still happening for 2021

Moonlight Madness (SDC)

Welcome to Moonlight Madness at SDC

One thing you'll notice is that there is not any extra activities on the square this year

It was nice to see the craft demonstrators out today

This year, unfortunately, Moonlight Madness is basically just extended hours for riding

Which gives you some really neat visuals of the rides all light up at night

You also get WildFire sunsets which are always beautiful

On select nights during the festival, there are socially distanced concerts in Echo Hollow

Newsboys was performing on the day I was at the park

Each night of the festival ends with fireworks

Which you can see from pretty much anywhere in the park

Including Firemans Landing

If you want, even the water rides are open at night

Moonlight Madness runs through August 9th at SDC
