Runaway Mountain Coaster

Welcome to the Runaway Mountain Coaster - Branson's original mountain coaster.

The entertainment complex recently added a zipline course, but it was unavailable today.

Here is the loading area

The Runaway starts with a 3 minute climb to the top of the mountain

It really is a peaceful journey to the top

The ride down is very exhilarating 

My only complaint is that there are some "pot holes" on the way down that really jar you if you are going full out.

It is an extremely long track.  They claim that it is the longest in the midwest

There are two spirals on the way down.  The first one takes you clockwise

You really pick up speed between the two spirals.

The second spiral goes counterclockwise and you really feel the G-force here if you aren't afraid to go full out

The ride then ends with a long straight section over the creek back to the station.

It is a fun ride.  Definitely recommend it in the dark when they have the light show going.

New Attraction (Runaway)

Something is happening at the Runaway Mountain Coaster complex

There's lots of land clearing.

and now posts have gone vertical.

There's also lots of footers.

Poles and footers and more poles and even more footers.

and there's also this thing.

Here's where it is located at the complex.

  

So we're not sure what they are adding, but it is definitely something we'll want to keep and eye on.

The Runaway Mountain Coaster

Welcome to the Runaway Mountain Coaster

Missouri FINALLY has its first mountain coaster and

it is located just south of Branson's main drag

Here is the loading area for the Runaway

Sitting in the holding area waiting for the "all clear" 

Like most mountain coasters, we have quite the climb to the top

This makes mountain coaster #6 for me.

I'm sure as the seasons move on, the vegetation will grow back in

The one thing I noticed that was different with this installation...

Was that it was basically one constant lift hill - instead climbs and drops

First thing is first - going full tilt the entire way is amazing

You can really feel the lateral G-forces going through the first helix

I found the bunny hills in this section quite fun.

You actually get some airtime and pop up out of your seat

The next section just keeps getting faster and faster.

Novice riders will more than likely brake here.  DON'T DO IT

If you have full tilt the entire way so far - keep it up.

You get even more lateral G-forces here.  It's so awesome

After the second helix, you have a few more zig zags and then the brake run

This is a great layout and ride.   I haven't decided yet how it rates with the

others that I have ridden - but it is definitely in the top 3.
