Worlds of Fun - Splash! Water Parade

 

Welcome to the ALL NEW - Splash! Water Parade

The parade runs two times daily

4pm - starting in Gateway Gardens

6pm - starting next to Cyclone Sam's

The parade features 5 new floats that were designed specifically for Worlds of Fun

Blaster float

Drencher float

Each float has a huge water tank in the middle that bubbles

Sprayer float

You can see that each float sprays water at the audience as it passes by

Douser float

Each float also has a cast member riding on it

Soaker float

There are two parade stops along the route.  One at Front Street and the other in Gateway Gardens

The show stops feature an interactive element that involves kid volunteers

There is a water fight involved between the cast and the kids

Needless to say, everyone gets wet

A fun new musical soundtrack is played over the area's PA system as the parade goes by

Here is the second show stop

The parade exits out behind Tivoli Theater after the 2nd parade and the cast then exits to Tivoli

SPLASH! Water Parade runs daily (except Monday July 28) through August 3rd

There are two parade each day.   4pm and 6pm

Worlds of Fun - KC Nights

 

Welcome to the final weekend of KC Nights at Worlds of Fun

Those are fun decorations

Interesting ... they put fake turf over the bricks in the middle of Gateway Gardens.  They also have a few yard games you can play

The specialty food booth is located next to the Gateway Pizza Patio

Here are your options (the servings seem a little small to me)

and here are the prices

There are two specialty booths selling local things.

Looks to be mainly shirts

They have converted the former history display in the Tivoli Theater lobby into the KC Nights Art Gallery

I thought it was nice that they included art from all different levels of artists

You can tell that there were some serious artists represented along with some younger artists

Pretty neat installation

I'm pretty sure that this particular painting will be a permanent installation

This appears to be a sticker wall.  It was right next to the crafting area

On the main stage for this festival is Crossroadsound

This is a local band

They did a nice job - they sang mostly covers of popular songs

On the Gateway Pizza Patio Stage was the Swing'n Kansas City Jazz Band

This was a very good group

Really tight sounding group

This short festival ends on Sunday.

Worlds of Fun - Park Update

 

Yes, it's about time.

The clock hands have finally returned to the floral clock

It has been really really hot here in KC.  The park has installed two cooling tents to help guests combat the heat.  One is located near G'rilla Grill

The other tent is located next to Sand Dune Diner

Don't worry though ... they've installed shade structures in the queues ... oh wait, nope still nothing here at Spinning Dragons

An interesting development at Country Junction Theater. Two new light riggings have appeared

In exciting news, Detonator can once again operate with both towers

In even more exciting news - the trains are now on the track with water dummies at Timber Wolf

Does that mean we'll get Timber Wolf back for Haunt?  Fingers crossed
