The security system at the front gates has been upgraded.  They are now using the modern metal detection that allows for guests to keep walking and not have to stop and remove items

The 50th logo has been moved just outside the turnstiles for Grand Carnivale 

Viking's Wharf, a new snack bar has finally opened and offers different adult beverages for purchase

We finally caught the Zinger while riding the train

Park Update (SFSTL)

 

The restrooms inside the main gate are finally reopened after their makeover

The former Mooseburger Lodge is now the Festival Dining Pavilion

Here is the current menu offerings for "Summer Nights Spectacular"

(I will be honest I have never heard of this "festival" that is supposedly going on right now)

Trying to be cool like Universal Orlando's Halloween Horror Nights, the park did a souvenir preview of the offerings for this year's Fright Fest

Here it is.  Be amazed! 

Hopefully you went out and bought what you wanted this weekend because apparently this was it until Fright Fest officially begins.

Rookie Racer (SFSTL)

 

Well here we are near the end of July and Rookie Racer, the "new for 2023" addition to Six Flags St. Louis is still not open yet for the season

Now the good news is, they have finally gone vertical with this ride.  The station frame is nearly completed and they have a turn into the station up with track and supports

Zooming out, you can see that there is a lot of work to be done still.

It appears that all of the footers might be in place now.

Well ... it appears that a couple are still curing so they must have been recent pours

Lots of supports here in the middle for the helix

Smaller footers here for the ramp up to the station

We are calling it now - Rookie Racer is going to be the "new for 2024" attraction at SFSTL

Summer Concert Series - ABBA (SDC)

As part of the Summer Concert Series, Silver Dollar City hosted "Dancing Dream: ABBA Tribute Band" for several evening concerts during Summer Nights.

Summer Tasting Passport (SDC)

 

TASTING PASSPORT

New this season is a Summer Tasting Passport.  SDC has created Tasting Passports to help guests maximize their food spending money this Summer - and the best part - it is good June 11th through August 7th. It really is a good value if you plan to visit more than once during that time.

Please note that since this is the SUMMER there are not specialty food items that have been created just for a festival.  The food on the card is normal menu items.

FRIED CHICKEN SANDWICH

Traveler's Stop

Thoughts: This sandwich is huge.  If you have ever had a Chick-fil-A sandwich that is probably the best comparison there is in the real world.  There is a lot of chicken in this sandwich.  Very flavorful and filling

Chester's Kettle Chips

Thoughts: This is a great meal.  Think of it is like super nachos but with kettle chips instead of nacho chips.  Very tasty.

Thoughts: The Gooey Butter Cake just keeps getting better.

Thoughts: This is a great meal.  I was surprised by size of the portion.  The different toppings really make for a yummy combination

Thoughts: Very tasty hamburger.  The toppings were a little unique at first bite but you quickly warm up to the flavor combination

The park has fireworks nightly during this festival
