Welcome to the Crown Center the home of Sea Life Kansas City (and Legoland Discovery Center - but we can't go in there due to their silly rules)

They even have a pretty nice aquarium in the lobby.

The first room is home to a tank that takes up almost all of the walls of the circular room.

This school of fish are called Lookdown

Moving on to the next room we see Moon Jellies.

You can get all sorts of views of the aquatic wildlife.  There's above pool viewing, poolside and then they have underwater bubbles you can climb into to look at the creatures.

The final room allows you to color in your own sea creature.

When you are satisfied with it, you release it into the pool.  It will dance on your screen for a little while then it will...

head out of your cave into the main pool which is a large projection screen on the wall.  It was pretty neat to see your creation on the big screen.

Skyscraper (The Tracks)

Construction has begun on the new Skyscraper ride at Track 3.

As mentioned in the press release, the new ride will go in the infield of the Rookie Track

The first part of construction will be to dig and then install the foundation for the ride.

They are using a massive drill to bore this hole.

Once they have the foundation constructed, the ride should go together rather quickly.  Parts are already starting to arrive.

The foundation for the Cotton Blossom BBQ building is being laid.

Construction continues on Cotton Blossom BBQ.  The cement truck paid the site a visit today to begin the process of pouring foundations.

New Year's Celebration (SDC)

Welcome to Silver Dollar City's New Year's Celebration.

In the Saloon, Biff Barker New Year's Radio Show is playing.

The show features the Nightingales who perform tight harmony

I enjoyed how they brought old time jingles into the show.

Just like radio shows of old, they had a detective mystery.

Thankfully there were some talented members of the audience to provide sound effects.

They also had a portion of the show where they took modern songs and put an old school twist on them.  Of course the music came in a "Time Traveler" time capsule.

It was an enjoyable show - though quite different than what you would normally see in the Saloon.

In the Red Gold Heritage Hall, Members Only, an 80's tribute band performed

The group played songs from iconic groups like Chicago, Journey, Kansas and more.

The band seemed to get a decent crowd response and even had people up dancing in front of the stage.

The band will be back several times during the 2019 season.

All the way from Stone County, Arkansas, the Cleverlys Trio (they can't count real good) performed in the Opera House.

Now for those who have not had the pleasure (displeasure?) of watching (surviving?) one of their performances, they blend modern music with Bluegrass while adding in their own brand of comedy.

Seriously, this group is a lot of fun and is definitely worth watching.  They will be returning in the 2019 season during Bluegrass and BBQ.

Finally in the Riverfront Playhouse, Chad Chesmark brought his magic act to the SDC stage.  He's been performing magic since he was six years old and he says that was when he peaked.  It was a fun show and the kids really enjoyed it.

Hard to believe that this is the end of the season already.  However, it won't be long before we are back covering SDC as the park reopens in early March.

While not much has really changed since our last visit (which was less than a week ago) we felt compelled to take one last set of photos on the last operating day of the season.
