City Update - Parking (SDC)

Be careful when navigating the parking lots this week.  There are new lights going in and some are right in the middle of the current drive way to the Stop 3 parking area.

Speaking of Stop 3 parking - it continues to grow as they eat away at the mountain

They were actively tearing down more of this mountain today.  We predict that the parking lot will continue to the condos once completed ... they're almost there already.  They are literally on the other side of the trees you see on top of the hill

Looking back at Stop 2 parking you can see they have filled in to add more parking on what used to be the other side of the tram road.

This is now the dedicated tram road and it stays on this side of the parking lot.  The only time it crosses pedestrian pathways is near the front entrance where it has forever

This side of the entrance road continues to be shaped

There is now a pathway down from the tunnel we showed you last week

This area is now almost completely flat.  The hill we've been showing is completely gone.

City Update - Dorms (SDC)

It had been awhile since we last checked in on the progress of the new SDC dorms

It appears that the first two floors have been framed out and now the third floor is going up

A little easier to see that we are on floor three now from this angle

It appears that they are about ready to hang sheet rock on the third floor

From what we can remember, the top two floors will be residential and then the bottom floor will be community space

Hopefully this can come together quickly as they will definitely need the dorms before the summer rush to house the college student workers they are bringing in

City Update (SDC)

Spring has sprung at Silver Dollar City

While not everything is in bloom yet, the few things that are are beautiful

So it was cold this weekend.  So cold that most of the day only Fire in the Hole and Flooded Mine were open.  None of the other attractions operated - including those in the Grand Expo

Luckily it did warm up towards the end of the operating day and ThuNderaTion was able to operate.  No other rides opened though

Needless to say, the park was a ghost town well before the end of the operating day.  Hopefully the park will have better weather next week as the first two weeks have been chilly and/or rainy

Fire in the Hole (SDC)

FIRE IN THE HOLE

New this week is shade treatments (much like you would find at the other Firemans Landing attractions) over the queue area for the new attraction

The facades continue to progress

Again, very difficult to see much of anything from the windows

You can spot the new shade structure a little from this window

Finally the exit to the new attraction continues to become more defined

City Update - Lumbercamp (SDC)

Let's see how much progress they've made on Lumbercamp this past week.  The new dining area is going to have a great view of the falls.

Not much visible changes here

They have added some new stone walled planter beds in this area

That really ties up the look of this area quite nicely.

They have started to add in the queue area for those waiting to order

The building itself has received paint and is starting to look closer to being finished

Queue area on the right, new rock planter here in the front and lots of new color on the building

South side of the building has received paint as well

City Update - Parking (SDC)

They've made some more progress since last week on the parking lot

The right three lanes have attendants charging for the paid lot.  Free parking uses the left lane

This curb now is the entrance to the paid parking lot

They have this line of cones separating the paid and free lots.  You can also see the current shuttle loading area for free lot

The paid lot wasn't used much today

This is the free parking lot

While more of the free lot is paved this week, there is still plenty to be done

We stopped and took a look at this new tunnel and we are convinced this is a pedestrian tunnel

While it is tall enough to walk through, there is no way a tram is going to fit

They have removed more of the final dirt hill on this side.  We think that this will all be additional parking and that tunnel will service this area for pedestrians

Fire in the Hole (SDC)

In an interesting move by the park, they have recently re-trademarked "Fire in the Hole".  Does this mean that the new attraction will also be named "Fire in the Hole"?  We'll have to wait and see
