Welcome to Six Flags Great America
Having just been to the other Great America - wow does this look plain in comparison
Superman Ultimate Flight was up first - because who wants to wait in a long line later?
Continuing the theme of "hit the low PPH coasters first" - next was The Dark Knight
These poor balloons look really lonely in this area with everything removed or closed
The Joker was next and I was surprised to get 8 inversions on our ride
Flash Vertical Velocity was next - again, got to hit the low PPH coasters first
We strayed a little from our plan and hit Batman next. Really like that they have repaired most of the effects in the queue and station
We have a member of our group that loves swing rides so we rode this for her
The final low PPH coaster was the Little Dipper. Fun ride. Cannot believe this was considered the "big ride" at Kiddieland back in the day -- and that we would marathon it when we visited
After lunch we hit up Goliath - and I'm sorry, but when did it get so rough?
SkyStriker was next. It wasn't ready yet when we visited last season.
Next was American Eagle - which was only running the red side. This thing is really rough. I was so glad I rode a "middle seat" as I cannot even begin to imagine how bad a wheel seat must have been
I honestly cannot remember the last time I saw the train operate at this park. It must have been before Maxx Force was added
We rode on both sides of X-Flight and decided that the left wing side is better because you flip up and over on the first drop. Also what is up with the new voice recording for the station?
We rode Demon because someone in our group loves this thing. Rode like crap and actually hurt one of the people in the group. Also no lights in the tunnel after the first two loops
Apparently Six Flags is not interested in keeping these rides working at 100%. Much like ours back home in St. Louis, most of the effects were broken today.
Raging Bull is so much fun. I so wish we had this back home
Continuing the theme of rough wooden coasters, Viper was horrible
Whizzer makes us miss the ORIGINAL Zinger so much.
Maxx Force has a great launch and then it is over. Wish it was more like PowderKeg
Wrath of Rakshasa is the newest addition to the park
The ride is loosely themed after a shape-shifting demon that you can see in statue form here
This B&M dive coaster stands just under 200 feet and features 3 rows of 7 riders
If you were wondering, this is what a Rakshasa looks like in its traditional form
Overall we really enjoyed our four rides on Wrath of Rahshasa. It has an interesting layout that does not let up. There's no midcourse brake so it is just constant loops and helices after the initial drop.
We always have a great time at this park.
Until next time, Great America!
