Park Changes (WOF)

Worlds of Fun released a new video today - though they didn't do a very good job focusing.  Nevertheless, you can see from this angle where the new turnstiles are going to be located.

Much like what the concept art showed, the turnstiles will be directly across from the ticketing building.  I would assume that that the icon balloon will go somewhere there in the middle.

Park Changes (WOF)

Today's update will see the addition of the "curved" portions on the turnstiles building.

Here are the curved parts getting ready to be installed.

There's one curved piece in place.

Here's another one in place now.

Here's the final product for today, with the curved pieces in place which will support the domed portions of the turnstiles building.

Park Changes (WOF)

Thanks to Steve Murphy, we have some photos from the opposite direction for a change.  You can see down the hill what used to be the First Aid Building - this will now be the the locker and rental building.  The old turnstiles used to be to the left of that building.

Next you can see what used to be the Guest Relations building is getting a makeover.  We do not know if it will continue being the Guest Relations building or not.

You can see the back of the new Guest Relations building in this photo and where it is located in relation to the old Guest Relations building -- and look at all the new cement.  It looks amazing.

So here is the new Guest Relations building.  Next, look closely past that building and you will see green steel beams.  This is the new turnstiles that have finally gone vertical.

Panning on left you can see where the new ticketing building is located.  You can also see the roof of the Grand Pavilion in the Catering Village just over the hill.  You can also see the steel beams of the turnstiles.

The cement is getting closer to completion in the newly dubbed "International Plaza" -- one thing that I have noticed is that they have left out areas which, I assume, will be the homes to brick pavers.  Thanks again to Steve Murphy for this update as it really helps with the location of buildings in this new "world"

Park Changes (WOF)

The second pavilion has gone vertical at the new Catering Village.  You can also see that a restroom has been created.  The most interesting thing to me is the proximity of this area to the Tivoli Music Hall which can be seen in the background.

Park Changes (WOF)

Today we get a closer look at the new building that was built at the plaza area.
This is definitely a major new structure - it is going to be a nice addition.

Here is the building from another angle.  You can also see the steel (the green pieces near the new building) that will soon be going up for the front gate area.

We still have some random piles of dirt in the area.  I would imagine that these will be gone soon as we are getting closer to opening weekend (which is in April).

They have laid more concrete in the area.  It also looks like the control booth to Fjord Fjairlane has vanished (not sure if it will be relocated).  Somewhere in this area will be a new stage that will be utilized for HAUNT and WinterFest.

Park Changes (WOF)

Worlds of Fun released another video of the front plaza progress and these are some stills from that video.  The first thing you can see here is the progress on the ticketing both near the maintenance shed.  This photo would have been taken near the Tivoli East catering pavilion.

Next we see a lot of progress has been made on this new Guest Relations (domed building).

This angle provides us with a view we had not seen before.  There is some sort of structure on the pathway above what was Festahaus.  I think this might be the construction headquarters trailer for the project but I am not sure.  Again notice how the old Guest Relations building is still standing.

To give you an idea of where things used to be.  The building on the left is where the gate used to be.  That was formerly the First Aid building.  The new large building on the right is where the old ticket booths used to be located.

The building on the right in this photo used to be the First Aid building.  It will now be the rental and locker building.  This news was released by WOF Retail yesterday.

Finally we pan around to the old plaza area.  Where the construction machine is located is where Baltic Bazaar used to be.  To the left of this photo is where Fjord Fjairlane is located.

This photo was put out by WOF Retail and was shot from their new Rental Building (former First Aid building).  The tall tree you see in the photo is the tree that was on the left of the picture just above this one.  I hope that gives you an idea of the area.

Time Traveler Construction (SDC)

Thanks to sanddunerider, we have some new construction photos to share.

So the big news this week is how the construction has really encroached on ThuNderaTion.

This huge footer is practically right under park of the track for TNT.

As massive as this footer is, it must be for something rather large.  That makes two huge footers now in the area - and you can see the second on closer to the bottom of the photo.

When you compare those newly created footers to the size of these footers up here.  There is a big difference.

Also worth noting is how close the footers are to the exit of the tunnel on TNT.

They are seriously right there and it looks like they are on both sides of the track.

Panning on north you can see that strange cluster of footers near the exit to that tunnel.

Panning out you can see just how different this area looks.  A lot of trees have been removed.

Not sure what is going on here, but there is an interesting piece of machinery on site.

Here is another shot of how close those footers are to TNT.

Work is continuing on the main building for this ride.

Panning north some more, we can see that major footer that we highlighted last update has been completed.  I still think this is where an inversion will be located.

Panning north some more and we see lots of footers.  The part that is promising to me is that there are still a lot of trees left in this section.  I hope that remains the case.

It is interesting how close the footers come to Echo Hollow.

Sandunerider decided to get photos from another angle this week.

Here you can see how close the construction is to the TNT helix section.

Finally here is a side profile of the main building for the ride.  It is quite massive.

Special thanks again to sandunerider for sharing these construction photos with our viewers.
