Oceans of Fun - Park Update

It has been a rough opening weekend for Oceans of Fun
Multiple attractions were not ready for guests.  Signs were all over the park, like this one, trying to explain the reason for being so unprepared for the season

Captain Kidd's - unavailable

Crocodile Isle was open (only kiddie are available)

So it was completely slammed with the younger visitors

The Adults Only pool was rethemed to the Flamingo Beach Club
The former Subway restaurant was redone into 21 and Colder Frozen Cocktail Bar

Here is what they are serving and prices

Here is a look at the pool.  There is a live DJ up on the cargo container and the in pool bar seems to be very popular

Barefoot Beach - unavailable

Aruba Tuba was open and received a new paint scheme this off season

New bar by Coconut Cove

As one of the few things open, Coconut Cove was very popular today

As mentioned earlier, Aruba Tuba received a new paint scheme.
It WAS open today

Typhoon - unavailable

Racers - unavailable

Paradise Falls - unavailable

Surf City Wavepool - unavailable
Hurricane Falls - unavailable
Caribbean Cruiser Lazy River - unavailable

This slide complex WAS open and was pretty popular
Let's hope they can be a little more proactive this week and get everything else open by next weekend

Silver Dollar City - Miner's Mountain Express Construction

Looks like some pavement work is being done next to the PowderKeg launch building

All sorts of rebar is now in place nex to the launch

Still a large pallet of forms waiting to be used

It looks like they've been busy burying footer foundations

Lots of burying has happened here.
Also interesting how they have left a "valley" between the new rockwork and the construction area. (we'll show you from the other side here in a bit)

Looking towards the American Plunge lift and we're happy to report that tunnel for American Plunge has finally been properly buried

It is crazy how much this area has changed even since our last visit.

Here's a look at the now buried footers from the other side

There's a giant new footer there in the middle

Close up of the buried footers

Here's that ravine I was talking about.  Do you think the water feature will go this way as well? I'm not sure why they have left it like this

One last look at this side of the site

Now over by Wildfire, you can see how they have water flowing again under the walkway.  You can also see the queue area for the new ride

Water feature is now full again and the queue line pathway

Backside of the water feature.  Interesting black tube there

This will probably be off stage when everything is done

There are literally footers everywhere in this photo

Seriously.  Everywhere.

This area has probably changed the most since our last visit

This is the station and maintenance building for the ride

Apparently load will be on this side and then the maintenance area on the far side.
We're most interested in what appears to be supports for track on top of the structure

Large boulders were being brought in today for landscaping

Very active worksite today

Oasis - Construction Update

Some closer photos of The Shootout going in.  Here you can see they are building the bracing for the lift hill.

Now that the brace is in place, they can install the track that will be supported by it.  Notice the motors that will drive the tires that lift the train backwards out of the station

Here are the station brakes.

By the time we drove back through town going home from SDC, they had the entire lift installed

Silver Dollar City - Park Update

The security scanners at the front gate have been upgraded

Some new Powder Keg shirts

There is a brand new Ice House for this season near American Plunge

The Avenue of Flags has been installed on the pathway that has Foggy Hollow near The Plaza

Each state is represented and they are displayed in the order they joined the Union

Canopy Sky has already been installed for Summer Celebration
