City Update (SDC)

Time for a park update.  First off, the cow is back in Wilson's Farm.  I honestly do not remember the last time that she was out.

On the other side of the park, the Pumpkin Path expansion project (making it wider) seems to be about done.

It looks like the width is about double the size that it was originally

They added gates on the side closest to Boatworks Theatre.  The whole area is still construction fenced off but it should be revealed soon as Pumpkins in the City begins mid September

Adventureland

Welcome to the Adventureland Resort near Des Moines, Iowa

The park's entrance area is modeled after Disneyland and even has the train station right at the entrance

It is a cute little train too.

Rounding out the square area is the Carousel.

Anchoring one end of the Boulevard is the Giant Wheel

Galleon

Parachutes

Phoenix is their spinning mouse coaster

Balloon Race

Lady Luck

Lighthouse

Scrambler

Space Shot

The Underground is their indoor scenic railway ride

This animatronic in the queue area is the scariest part of the attraction

Storm Chaser

Tornado is their classic out and back wooden coaster

Monster is their marquee rollercoaster that features a vertical lift and a beyond vertical first drop

The park has a very famous skyride that goes through the trees

Back in Outlaw Gulch you will find the area's namesake coaster - The Outlaw

You'll also find this rare water ride called Sawmill Splash

As we covered in another update, this is Dragon Slayer and the newest themed area of the park

This is a really great small park and it has been growing quickly.  3 new coasters in 5 seasons

It will be interesting to see what happens next at the park

Dragon Slayer - NOW OPEN (Adventureland)

Dragon Slayer is officially open at Adventureland Resort in an all new area of the park

Which side will you pick?  Knight side (which they claim is more intense) or Squire side (which they claim is less intense)

Unlike the larger models, only one cart can be loaded/unloaded at a time.  This didn't seem to effect the capacity too much

Heading up the lift

First off, I want to say that the setting is perfect.  It is very visible within the park

We rode both sides and honestly did not see too much difference on the amount of spins.  We found that if you start with your back to the control booth you will spin more (both sides).  If you are a single rider, you will spin more if you sit on the inside seat then the outside seat.

In addition to the new Dragon Slayer, they also moved Puff the Dragon (now called Dragon's Nest) to this new area.  Way to go Adventureland on having a cohesive new themed area at the park.

Adventure Bay

Welcome to Adventure Bay waterpark at the Adventureland Resort

Typhoon is a 2 person raft slide (you can see the green rafts being carried up) there on the left.  You start with a helix and then you are dropped into a larger rocker before going into another helix and out into the catch pool.

This complex features several slides.  Reef Racers (on the right) is a 6-lane mat racer slide.

The other two slides are body speed slides.  Patriot's Plunge (the red white and blue slide) features a double down and you actually get some air after that second hill.  Gangplank (green slide) is an immediate straight down and you get a lot of speed on it.

Shipwreck Shores is a secondary swim up bar.  Also in this area is a kiddie activity pool with water pad walk and obstacle course.

Also in this area is the Pirate Ship which features smaller slides and a splash pad

Breaker Beach Wave Pool is a double wave pool that has a more aggressive side and a less aggressive side.  The waves on both sides are pretty decent

The Sand Bar Pool is supposed to be the adult pool with a swim up bar.

The lazy river circles most of this part of the park. It is called Caribbean Cruiser

Here you can see that it goes all the way over to Typhoon and circles around the Sand Bar Pool.

This tube slide complex is called the Bermuda Quadrangle.  Green is an open air slide.  Purple is an enclosed slide.  Green/Blue is a Bullet Bowl slide. Orange/Yellow features 3 Rocker Pods.

Finally Kokomo Kove is the original attraction that started the waterpark.  This waterfortress features numerous smaller slides and lots of water obstacles.
