So another part of my childhood was removed this off season.
The one thing we would like to point out is that it was not a clean-cut tear down. They built a platform at the top of the foundation.
What's interesting is that originally the park stated that the attraction was closed due to being unstable and there was even an anchor built to "stabilize" the structure. That anchor has been removed and the structure looks pretty sound to me.
The steps that served as the exit to the attraction have been cleaned up and will be used as access to this platform.
So why did they leave this platform?
While not confirmed by the park, I think we can assume that this is where the steel structure for the Christmas tree of lights will be located during Christmas in Midtown.
If you go by the concept artwork, the structure you see right now will be made to look like a present with lights. It should be interesting to see what the finished product will look like.
Finally, we are happy to announce that the Ghost Trap is still there and there is a new fence around it as well which makes it look much nicer.
